Best in Show winner, Depleted soul by Chante Chien, is a haunting acrylic abstract work executed with flawless technique that reminds us of the balance between chasing the material and nurturing the spirit. It is a perfect representation of STCEA’s mission to pursue good in the world through art, as 20% of the show’s proceeds benefit Equal Justice Initiative (www.eji.org) to work toward racial justice and criminal justice reform.
Award of Distinction winners for their creativity and artistic merit include the bright and colorful burst of spring in Bumpass Hell to Table Mountain by Ciara Barsotti, the vibrant and captivating blue of Unleashed by Judy McSween, and the tension of the urban and natural landscapes in Graffiti sky by Shir Zalcman.
