Algae Typography Poster
I am often fascinated by the life-giving images of nature, which often serve as inspiration for my typeface design. Moreover, I also really like Didot's font style which is with strong contrast in thickness, so this typeface design, “The Algae”, was inspired by it. I hope that through this typeface creation, the subtlety of marine life can be shown, and at the same time, it can remind people of the rhythm and vitality of seaweed floating freely in the deep sea, even with a sense of mystery. Seagrass flutters smoothly, so when the typeface carries words with related meanings, every single letter can connect seamlessly with each other to form such a smooth and flowing image, which gives different feelings when viewed from a slight distance and close up as a result triggers reverie.
This set of typeface is created according to a rigorous and complex grid system, but it is not limited by the grid. The corners of the font try to simulate the graceful and twisted shape of seaweed when it floats, so it is organic and alive, but irregular, each with its own unique life.
